Flying Frog

D came over today and gave me a hand moving my stuff I have got all the heavy crap in the van and all the stuff that takes two to carry, I'm just left in a messy flat now still a fair amount of stuff all over the place even though I am trying to be as ruthless as possible with what I keep.

My dad told me how I turned up to New Zealand when I was 12 with just a tiny back pack, it was the first time I had seen him really, he left when I was really little and visited once when I was 10. He had thought I must of had another bag as I only had one change of clothes for 3 months. As it turned out I didn't, my dad phoned my mum and she said "Oh yes well he packed his bag himself". Now anyone reading this might think this was obviously a bit of a joke to play on my dad from my mum, and maybe it was. In reality though I think knowing mum she would have thought that to let a little boy of 12 pack his bag for a 3 month trip on his own was a good idea and perfectly normal. I really wonder what was in that bag apart from the one clean outfit?

Earlier I popped in to see the hippy I have been sat next to at work for the last year or so, he is one of the gentlest and most pleasant people you are ever likely to meet. I dropped off a mini pool table and a computer game, just to get rid of them really, but also because its his sons birthday tomorrow so I hope he likes them. He very kindly gave me some food also a going away card and inflatable frog that he took on his travels round South America, I'm to take it to India, it is going to be one well travelled frog!
